What I Feed My Kids

I get asked what I feed my children so I thought I would share what was and is on the menu today.

I like fresh, fast and REAL food with a minimal amount of chemicals or preservatives. The fast is a very very important part.

This morning they had organic oatmeal with frozen berries and agave nectar. Lara does not like it so she had 2 eggs fried in coconut oil and a piece of non-preservative harvest rye bread with butter and homemade jam.

For snack they all had yogurt and arrowroot cookies. I would say homemade muffins but I was busy cleaning the house and they had to fend for themselves. I love muffins because I can jam a whole bunch of crazy stuff in there like zucchini, carrots, flax and nuts.

Lunch was a shake (banana, frozen strawberries, spinach and almond milk). With that they had a plate of carrots, celery, pear, boiled egg, tofu slice, cheese, almonds (they got to pick what they wanted).

Since we are having fish and rice tomorrow I decided to make an Alyson version of chicken corn chowder to fill our bellies. organic small farm chicken, home made chicken broth and organic frozen veggies n stuff with potatoes from my garden. They are not looking so great anymore so in the pot they go!!

I'm not picky about having a fruit or veggie at EVERY meal, just most and if they are being picky more gets stuffed into the shakes to 'hide' it.

Alyson,
You don't know me and I don't know you and for some weird reason or another I have stumbled into your blog and am truly inspired! I am a stay at home mom of a 22 month old and a seven month old and am struggling to regain the health of my mind and body. I find your tips and advice very useful and am thankful I have found your site. I know your probably thinking..."what a weirdo" but I can honestly say that I am just trying to do right be myself and my family and love reading your posts! If you ever feel like stumbling into my blog- shoot me your e-mail and I will invite you. (my blog is private) If you don't respond, I totally understand. Thanks anyway for the awesome posts.

Wow, this is awesome. I just had a baby. Did you make your own baby food? Any good recipes for baby food or tips on buying good fruits and veggies? Do you go to farmer's markets? Just buy organic in the store?
