Other than fitting into my pants again by the summer, I have less frustrating goals set for this year.
I have joined the local running club. Unfortunately our schedule will NOT allow me to join them on their group runs like I would like, BUT my membership WILL get me discounts on all the local races. Being on 'the list' will also make me more accountable as my standings will be posted amongst the others. They will know if I miss a race ;)
So my goals this year are simple. Complete every race offered (approx.one a month). That's it that's all. I know I don't have a chance at winning ANY of them let alone even placing in my age category so this years motto is just get er' done. This new running attitude (I'm kind of competitive) will save my knee I hope.
Two years ago I attempted to begin training for my first marathon only to be thwarted by a painful knee. Training for a marathon is NOT the same as placing in a 5km race. I found that out the hard way.
Slow and Steady will be the ONLY way to my ULTIMATE life goal of completing my first marathon. That goal is not even on my radar at this point.
One step at a time....
