I went for a run this afternoon.
I passed the tree line leading to our house and there I saw it...
A little four year old girl sitting on the swing set dwarfed by the trees and consumed by the surrounding farm space...
Waiting for her Mom to return.
It was the nicest thing I have ever seen.
I manage a country homestead and the lives of my 4 babies ages 10,8,5 and 3. I LOVE TO RUN and NEED to keep healthy and fit for my SANITY!! Seriously....All problems are solved when I am running.
Making MY health a priority allows me to be the mother and wife that I need to be for them.

Life's a GO-GO
Today was a very busy day. Not busy unusual. Just busy as usual. Get it?
Anyway, today was a typical homeschooling day combined with swimming lessons.
By 10am when I had to drop the girls off at the pool I had done A LOT of linear things. That would be one thing after another...after another...after another.
So to be off 5 minutes on one thing would have made us late for our lessons.
Was it stressful?
no
It was just fine. I just kept moving along.
This included such things as..
Coffee/e-mail time
breakfast
clean up from breakfast
kids dressed/teeth brushed/beds made
laundry folded
chickens fed
bags packed for the ymca
baby changed and put down for a nap
house picked up after half and hour of play
and morning school lessons.
So...off I went to the ymca. Stopped at the post office to mail a present. Dropped kids off at the pool. RAN FOR A HARD 25 MINUTES ON THE TREADMILL. picked kids up, gave snacks in car, stopped at bulk barn for flour, arrived home and made an early lunch.
Now...THE MOST IMPORTANT PART????
The 25 minutes I ran on the treadmill while the kids swam.
Me time accomplished. Stress relief accomplished.
Who says you can't fit it all in ;)
Oh...I haven't showered yet, but plan on a bath tonight after the kids are sleeping :)

Fitness is Ageless
I did a spinning class last night.
I drop my kids off at our church for a kids program from 6:15-7:30pm.
So...off to the YMCA I go for spinning class from 6:30-7:20pm
For that hour...that sweaty and intense hour...I was suddenly 20 again.
The music was pumping and I was alive. I could picture myself at a club, dancing.... all night.
Then the music slowed and I looked up.
I was surrounded by pretty, well dressed 20 year olds, and I was clearly not a part of that circle.
I was reminded once again about time. about age. about wrinkles and grey hair.
As they quit and I kept going, and I peddled faster, I was also reminded that you are only as old as you feel...and I was kicking their butts ;)
Suddenly age did not matter. In fact...It triumphed.

So the Hartford Marathon is four days away. I keep getting e-mails about it. Apparantly they keep forgetting that I cancelled my registration fee a few months ago now.
oh well.
I'm over it.
really I am.
So...I went to a spinning class. I had to leave 10 minutes early to pick my kids up.
I do NOT recommend leaving early and NOT stretching.
I can't move....and I hurt. And sitting....oh why can't those bike pads be thicker???
why oh why did I not stretch???
