I manage a country homestead and the lives of my 4 babies ages 10,8,5 and 3. I LOVE TO RUN and NEED to keep healthy and fit for my SANITY!! Seriously....All problems are solved when I am running.

Making MY health a priority allows me to be the mother and wife that I need to be for them.

Long Distance Woes

I went for my long run yesterday. It was supposed to be an hour but I cut it short at 55minutes. It was -28C with the wind chill and I was bundled in 5 layers of clothes. Once I got moving the cold did not bother me....unless my neck thingy slipped below my ears but that was nothing that could not be fixed.

So my legs felt pretty good. My lungs are not a problem and my energy was good. I took a walk break every 15 minutes or so to rest my knee as I am increasing my distance.

One problem.....

After running 35 minutes I looked at my watch and thought really??? 25 more minutes of running? I wanted to stop. Not because I HAD to but because I was bored of running. Was it because it was so cold? Was it because I did not have my friend to chat with? Not sure but the thought of running longer than an hour or training for a Marathon bored me.

Sigh..... Oh well. I bet when the sun starts shinning again and I can enjoy its warmth on my face I will look forward to my long runs again.

Till then I'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other and remembering my goals.

Happy Running,
Alyson

Keep plugging away :-) I am training for my first 1/2 marathon (in May) and did my first longish run yesterday (5miles).

I love following your progress as it helps me keep motivated in my training.

Keep those feet moving!

I know how you feel! Since I've been upping my time.. I'm feeling like I am running FOREVER. Yeah the scenery is nice.. but then I think "really.. this it... for 45min.. then it's going to be 50 then 60 mins" oye! I am SERIOUSLY getting spoiled running with you! Because even though we dont' HAVE to talk... we have the OPTION.. and we have eachother to run beside... I was JUST coming to terms that running is mostly a soliatry thing... but yeah.. I know what you mean! But my heart aches.. because I don't WANT to be 'bored' by running *sigh* ... until Wednesday! ☺
