I am moving to the country tomorrow and will be off line for a while untill we get our internet set up.
It was a crazy second week as I predicted it would be but I'm doing well. So far my weight keeps dropping without much effort so I am grateful for that. I'm still in maternity clothes for now but I no longer look pregnant. I will post a photo when I unpack the camera.
So here are the things I'm doing to help my body and mind...Stress and poor diet is a huge contributing factor to postpardum depression and water retention. It is so important to take care of yourself at this point. Love your body and mind and take care of yourself....not just your new baby. Everyone will benefit.
I have been....
1) going to bed as early as possible every night
2) letting go of some housework so I don't break my back
3) taking my prenatal vitamins
4) avoiding sugar as much as possible, and eating when I'm hungry
5)accepting help from those that offer
6)visiting the chiropractor to make sure I am functioning at full 'power'
7) Working on my posture because holding and looking at a newborn tilts my neck forward
8) remembering my keigle excercises (think...holding in your pee at midstream)
9) Water...water...water.
10) Breastfeeding. I can't emphasize enough how good it is for both you and the baby. It is a huge help in immediate weight loss.
I manage a country homestead and the lives of my 4 babies ages 10,8,5 and 3. I LOVE TO RUN and NEED to keep healthy and fit for my SANITY!! Seriously....All problems are solved when I am running.
Making MY health a priority allows me to be the mother and wife that I need to be for them.

End of the first week
One week ago I delivered my baby boy. I've taken this time to rest and recuperate and TRY not to over do things.
I sent my family away which helped ALOT!!
My emotions are great so far. I am concentrating on packing for the new house now and just enjoying the last week here in the subburbs. Adam is at the new house this week finishing off the painting and so I'm left alone with the three kids.
Since Lara is finished her homeschooling for the year we are just going to enjoy the warm weather, visit with friends and walk to the park everyday.
Peyton sleeps anywhere, and of course I can feed him anytime so there is no reason to be house bound. Besides...we are going to miss our friends and the parks that are so close so why not take advantage of them while we can?
My appetite this week was incredible. I literaly FELT the rumbly tumbly's alot so just ate as I needed to. My body is switching from pregnancy mode to breasfeeding so I know my metabolism is shifting. I indulged a little too much on some cake and chips my friends brought but whatever. If I started to 'diet' the week after giving birth that would have been too much for my body. I just have to remember to eat the best I can and try not to consume things that make poor Peyton too gasy :)
I'm still in my maternity clothes (annoying)...as my summer clothes are all waaayyyy too small and definitely too tight for my comfort. These boobs are really really....really large and if I wear a tight top I look about five months pregnant. So....comfy cute maternity clothes it is. I literaly can't suck in this gut and franctly I don't plan on looking at my stomach for another 5 weeks so why bother torturing myself. I packed all my itty bitty clothes away and all I have to look at is my maternity wear so that makes me feel much better.
As for exercise, my uterus is still sore when I cough and my ummmm ...stiches do not feel so hot. So.... walking to the park is good enough for me. My back is pretty sore lately from holding up these boobs as well so I'm going to work on my posture.

Week One
Hi there. I delivered my baby boy Peyton on Mother's Day. That was five days ago now and I'm still resting. I find the best thing to do in the first few weeks is concentrate on healing. My body needs time to rest and recover from birth. So does my mind. I am not going to try dieting right away as I still need my calories to recover and breast feed.
My body is already losing weight from the baby, placenta, extra blood volume and water so that is enough for now.
If you are breasfeeding your boobs will be the only part that expands at this point..to the point of ridiculous if I do say so :) The good thing is whenever you feed your baby your uterus contracts a little more. I still look pregnant, but give me a break....it's only been 5 days.
My goal this week is to try not to eat too much sugar or sweets since I have a tendency to do that when I'm tired. The sugar will make me depressed so if I can I will avoid the junk food cupboard. I still deserve to indulge just a little at this point don't you think? ...I mean common! I just popped out an 8 pound baby...I deserve a treat :)
So I will sleep and recover...and rest knowing I have just lost at least 10 pounds in a week!!
